Roon Refresh For Nucleus
Posted on August 26 2019
During the summer, Roon started manufacturing Nucleus and Nucleus+ units at their new production facility in California.
The move to a new facility provided the opportunity to make some minor changes to Nucleus, including a revised chassis and new packaging. The changes have no impact on the product specifications (like library size or zone count) or user experience (sound quality or speed). Pricing also remains the same.
The new chassis design has a shorter profile and a larger footprint, and the internals have been re-worked to allow for more storage space. As a result, there is enough space for 15mm tall drives (currently up to 5TB). A second HDMI input has also been added, and Roon's new packaging is more eco-friendly and less prone to damage.
Finally, Roon OS now includes CD ripping support! Just attach a USB CD drive to Nucleus to load your discs. All CDs are ripped to FLAC, and Roon OS will automatically transfer successful rips to connected storage.
